Follow Directions…Change Behaviors.

Pattington in Parkville was on alert during walks with his owner. He follows along nicely with his dog walker though.  When your dog is not taught to FOLLOW your directions, he/she will behave according to his/her nature. It is important to teach what you expect your dog TO DO. We first call the dogs’ attention with a consistent phrase. We then motivate a response/behavior and reinforce it, so it is learned. In this case, to walk beside you. In other cases, to “get back” from the door and wait until invited to greet. Maybe “lie down” in spots around the house and wait until you return. Absolutely, eliminate in the right place!
